Alan Stewart, MD of successful studio design build AVD FM Ltd decided at Easter 2002 to visit his old friend colleage, Jon Meredith who now lives in the States, for a holiday. The pair go back for more than 20 years and Jon used to work with Alan building sound studios before he emigrated to the USA where Jon continued in the same line of work. The pair were enjoying a beer in the warm spring evening at Jon's house in Memphis, Tennesse when the phone rang. After some discussion Jon came back and said he had a studio build job to have a look at and asked Alan to 'tag' along, the client was Don Mann from Memphis Records.

The next day Jon and Alan went to look at the proposed project, after leaving site Jon decided the job was too big for him to handle on his own and had decided to decline the work, however Alan thought it would be a great idea for the two of them to team up again, Alan would project manage the job mainly from the UK with 2-3 visits to site as the work progressed and Jon could do the build - after all he had built many studios like this one before. 

The idea set, Jon and Alan put forward their proposals to Don Man, president of Memphis Records. Don thought the idea was great. Upon Alan's return to the UK he organised the design of the project and e-mailed the plans to Don's office in Memphis for his approval.
